Andy Mardell

Founder and CEO AM1 Projects

Andy has worked in the UK rail industry for over 25 years and has vast experience delivering various electrification projects on both Network Rail and London Underground controlled infrastructure.

Andy formed AM1 Projects Limited 7 years ago and has sustainably delivered the company’s growth strategy, culminating in the award of a Principle Contractors License.

Nick Turner

Managing Director AM1 Projects

Nick has worked in the rail industry for over 20 years and has extensive experience in delivering complex programmes/projects in heavy/light and metro rail environments. Nick has held senior management positions at main contractor and client organisations working under conventional and innovative funding regimes on both Network Rail and London Underground infrastructure.

Nick was also a Board Member of Rail Industry Contractors Association and represented RICA on multiple UK Rail working committees.

James Drew

Operations Director AM1 Projects

James is an Operations Director with over 15 years varied experience of the Rail Industry. He has a wide understanding of various disciplines due to gaining experience as both a Project Manager and HV Assessor initially, later moving on to become the Director of Operations for AM1 Projects. As a result, James possesses a broad base of skills and expertise.

James’ knowledge covers a whole skillset, allowing him to oversee and manage any contract from start to end, with strong experience in all aspects and phases or the work. Having worked alongside the CEO since the company was founded, James has played a pivotal role in growing the company portfolio.

Jo Johnson

Financial Director AM1 Projects

Joining in 2012, Jo has witnessed the significant progression of AM1 Projects. Becoming a key member of the management team early on, Jo has implemented and been responsible for many of the core Company functions; Recruitment and HR, Commercial, Accounts and Finance. Having seen the Company flourish, Jo intends to safeguard the Company’s inner strength by continually assessing the reporting systems and data quality to allow Clients to be sure that AM1 Projects are an efficient and stable supplier in the marketplace.

John Masterson

Engineering Director AM1 Projects

John Masterson is AM1’s Engineering Director, managing projects from development stage and acting as CRE through design, installation and acceptance into maintenance.

John is a vastly experienced Railway Electrification Engineer, having served his career in a variety of senior roles in the client’s organisation in Maintenance, Operations and Capital Projects.

Daniel Mardell

HSQE Director AM1 Projects

Daniel is a HSQE Director with over 20 years experience in all aspects of the Railway and Construction Industry.

His role includes overseeing all Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental aspects of the company. He has extensive knowledge of sub-contract processes and is responsible for all company railway and construction approvals and accreditations, including RISQS, ISO and Building Confidence.

Mark Rees

Principal Designer AM1 Projects

As Principal Designer with AM1 Projects Ltd, Mark has over 25 years of varied experience within the Rail industry with roles including Project Lead for Electrification on East Kent, East Sussex and Victoria Resignalling schemes, as well as major upgrade works across the Southern Region. As Principal Designer for the AM1 business, Mark utilises a broad base of skills ensuring the provision of quality design solutions which meet both client needs and aspirations.

Nick Ansell

Head of Business Development

Nick has joined AM1 Projects to support the company’s growth plans within rail and identify new sector opportunities. Nick will head up the business development, sales and marketing function and look to develop and maintain new and existing relationships with clients and supply chain.

Nick has worked in the rail industry for over 17 years, working for main contractors and tier 2 organisations on both Network Rail and London Underground infrastructure. The majority of time working in business development, client relationship management and recruitment functions.
